Farewell Tour ~ Allen, TX

The Grands & The Chickens
So now begins the Team Haines farewell tour.  First stop Allen, Texas.  The 3 oldest chickens have been at Grand Camp for a week now- poor Gigi lol.  They've enjoyed the pool and Grand pampering- (maybe a bit too much).  Jonathan, Callie, Buster Grace, and I pulled into town after 6 days of out processing, packing, loading and cleaning.  I missed my chickens - time for some snuggles and rest!

We were even blessed to get a visit from some of our Maryland family.  Aunt Amy and Casey were great company and Cousin Dylan was a great playmate! The visit was short, sweet and packed full of memories! Casey celebrated her 21st birthday with us:)

There was shopping....

 there were beauty treatments....

 there was fun!
Sunflower fields made a great photo op

Morning snuggles make my heart happy happy happy!

There was a trip down to the lake house, fireworks celebration, and a bday party for Grandpa's 60th!  A lot went on the past 2 weeks:) Then as we prepared for our KC trip the Haines' headed to safari in South Africa.

4x4

Our 4th is 4 months old today!  Callie is growing soooo fast!  The more children we have the faster they grow!
She's a beautiful baby and a true joy to have as part of our family!

Her sibs keep her entertained with their antics!  They each have a unique relationship with our baby girl!  Annabelle is her "twin" and a big helper.  She often sings to Callie.  Linley is her favorite playmate- they cozy on the playmat together and snuggle:). Linley gets baby love time a lot!  Samuel gives kisses and throws away diapers- when he has the time lol!  I'm feeling so blessed to watch these chickens grow up together!!!!

Lost Pines Resort

We've been road tripping a lot lately!  Cramming in last minute trips on our Texas bucket list- this weekend we spent a very relaxing time at the Hyatt Lost Pines resort in Austin, TX.  I could have stayed there ALL summer long!  Tucked away on a secluded, quiet, and beautiful property on the banks of the Colorado river.  Bike trails, hiking, lazy river, water slide, outside movies, s'mores around the campfire........it was just what we needed before our big haul this week.

Beautiful gardens made for a lovely evening stroll

Daddy & Baby Girl
I still cant get them to pose for a picture-one is too busy, one is too sassy, and one never looks at he camera LOL

Lulu and Daddy

Caroline enjoyed water- the lazy river was the perfect for napping!
Water baby!  Annabelle was practicing her back flips!

there were alpacas, donkeys, horses, ponies, and longhorns!

We made the most of our stay!  There were so many activities we didn't
get to do- so we HAVE to go back!!!  Great place!!!!!

Memorial Day weekend 2013

We spent the long weekend with our favorite troops- Daddy and Aunt Tori!  It was a wild weekend cram packed with lots of fun and our special blend of crazy!

Saturday we woke to severe thunderstorms (a rare instance since we've lived in SA).  We loaded up all our beach gear and the chickens and set out toward South Padre.  Driving conditions were not favorable and worsening with each passing mile.  Radar showed us in a pretty nasty patch of red and under a tornado watch (again this is NOT common in south TX).  We came to a complete stop on the interstate for an hour and a half waiting for the flood waters to recede enough to pass. It was incredible to see what a few feet of water crossing a road can do and how fast it flows - I could see why they shut the highway down- it could have easily swept a car off the road and down the makeshift river that was forming.
We got on our way again around lunch time.  We were skeptical of the beach conditions finding it hard to believe it was dry and sunny at our destination, but once we finally arrived it was beautiful weather!  We tried to salvage what was left of our day at Schlitterbahn.  We got 2 day passes to the park- it was a super time!  Annabelle surprised us with her swimming abilities and even went on the park's most thrilling water slide!  Linley and her mermaid made the rounds on the lazy river and frog slide.  Sammy enjoyed the toddler splash pool near our cabana campout where we set up shop. Caroline even dipped her toes!  The big kids, Uncle Phillip, Aunt Tori and Fran, had fun too!

he may be 2- but he's still my baby boy!

it was a whale of a good time

There was a birthday dinner for my little man's 2nd bday!  And then came time for sand and surf!  We loaded up all the beach gear and hit the sand for a day of waves and sand castles!  The beach was a bit nutto with a road right through the sand between the camps and the water (they should probably revise this for safety's sake!)  We obviously didn't realize this when researching- but we made the most of the day with an extra watchful eye on the kids.  We had a bbq thanks to the grill masters, Sam had a nap in a raft, Caroline enjoyed her beach tent hideout, Annabelle spent her time on the boogie board, and Lulu built the most beautiful castles decorated with seashells!  Good times!  The trip ended and we drove back home with happy chickens and a van full of sand lol!

Kinder Graduation

Can NOT believe my Baby Belle is almost a first grader!  This morning was her kindergarten graduation ceremony!  She woke up all excited, asked me to curl her hair, put on her best dress and walked to school with a smile plastered on her face:)  After singing a couple of cute songs the graduates each walked the stage to receive their diplomas!  So precious- girls in their beautiful spring dresses and boys wearing ties with gelled hair!  Grins on the kid's faces and tears on the parents!

Congrats Kindergartners!
Way to go Annabelle!

3 Ring Circus

We've made it to the point of no return!  Our first move overseas has had us up to our eyeballs with research, details and appointments.  There was the scheduling and paperwork, followed by dr appointments with shots and trips to the vet.  There have been countless drop offs at goodwill.  There's an on going list of places to visit, eat, and play at just "one more time". There has been last minute play dates to say good bye to friends and bittersweet farewell hugs.

Lots of things are already checked off our to do list.  Our van is on its way across the Atlantic to be waiting for our arrival, the dogs are all set for their move behind us a few weeks, Army lodging has been booked for an extended stay and the airline reservations are made.

Lots left to do too of course!  School is ending this week- we've tried to maintain some sense of normalcy for the chickens but those days are behind us now.  It's crunch time- time for the heavy lifting and nitty gritty!  Let the circus begin!

 Ring 1: Unaccompanied baggage (UB)
This is all the stuff we can't (comfortably) live without for the first 1-3 months.  Kitchen stuff, linens, toiletry items, highchair, clothing, toys, movies, a tv.....   These items will be sent ahead of us to meet us soon after our arrival- the rest of our household goods can take up to 3 months to get there.  So this had to be planned out carefully with lots of thought.....many mommy lists were scribbled on napkins of things to add to this shipment lol!  UB gets packed and shipped in 2 days!

Ring 2: Household Goods (HHG)
The rest of our belongings that we are taking for life in Germany- furniture, nicknacks and comfort items to make our house a home:)  This will be our biggest haul of course.  And we are really hoping to get it delivered sooner, rather than later!  Until then we will have loner furniture, our suitcases and our UB.  HHG get packed next week!

Ring 3: Perm Storage
When sorting a house into piles you quickly realize how much stuff you can live without for a few years!  Things like holiday decorations, my classroom materials, and garage stuff have been sifted through with a minimal amount to go in the HHG shipment.  All the rest is staying here in storage to collect dust until we make our return in 3+ years.

Grand Finale
~selling junk on yard sale pages
~eating meals consisting of whats already in the pantry (interesting, I mean creative meals!!)
~ziplock bagging EVERYTHING
~sorting piles and shredding papers
~keeping the kids excited about this adventure before us
~trying to get sleep at night lol

It's a circus indeed! and YES we serve popcorn (there's an entire box still in the pantry)!
